BMW has unveiled a new range-topping M60 xDrive performance variant of the iX3 electric SUV, which gains a power hike and a host of M upgrades – plus a range of around 470 miles.
Available on the iX3 and the new iX4 SUV-coupé, the dual-motor, four-wheel-drive M60 powertrain produces 604bhp and 645lb ft of torque – up from the 462bhp and 476lb ft in the 50 xDrive.
This performance boost results in a 0-62mph time of 3.9sec, which is a full second quicker than the 50 xDrive, and its top speed is raised to 149mph.
The iX3 M60 is also 0.5sec faster to 0-62mph than the its closest combustion-engined equivalent, the 437bhp X3 M50.

Despite this, the M60 doesn’t suffer a dramatic range penalty when compared with less powerful iX3 variants.
Officialy, the M60 has a combined range of 468 miles on a single charge, compared with 497 miles for the 50.
The maximum charging rate for the 108.7kWh battery is unchanged, however, at 400kW.
The M60 receives several M upgrades as standard, including adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, exclusive M Sport and M Sport Plus driving modes, variable sport steering and an M Sport differential.
Cosmetically it receives new mirror caps, black exterior details, yellow running lights and a set of 21in M lightweight alloy wheels.

Inside, the M60 also receives an upgraded M Sport steering wheel and 10-way adjustable sport seats.
