The new Seat Ibiza FR Edition will be offered with cylinder deactivation technology. Mated to a 138bhp 1.4-litre TSI engine, Seat claims no compromise in performance and reductions of 12.2mpg and 30g/km. The FR Edition, available in SC and five-door bodystyles, costs from £15,920 adds a range of cosmetic upgrades over the standard FR.
The Corvette Stingray will be offered with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The GM-designed unit is said to improve efficiency by five per cent over the current six-speed auto. The new 8L90 transmission is shared with the Z06, but has unique clutch and torque converter arrangements. GM says upshifts are some eight-hundredths of a second faster than those of the Porsche 911’s PDK unit.
An official teaser image of the new Dodge Challenger signals the reintroduction of the iconic Super Bee muscle car. The Challenger is said to feature a new powertrain combination, but no other information has been revealed. It will make its debut at the New York motor show next week. The firm will also reveal the 2015 Dodge Charger, which will see almost every body panel “resculpted”.
Peugeot will unveil a sofa at the Milan Design Week today. It is “intended as a statement in pure form and materials” and is said to take inspiration from the Onyx superbike, supertrike and supercar. The Onyx sofa has been designed as a “static partner” to the Onyx supercar concept and is made from hand-crafted volcanic lava and carbonfibre.
