A picture of the new Mercedes-Benz S-class has been leaked, revealing the new 'W222' model in full.
Mercedes-Benz had previously been unveiling the new car from the inside out, releasing detailed interior shots. A series of spy shots, however, did show the undisguised exterior of the S-class.
The manufacturer has focused heavily on improving interior comfort in the new model, due to the growing importance of luxury saloons in the Chinese market and the failure of the Maybach brand.
Daimler chief Dieter Zetsche said "Pushing the S-class upmarket will also further strengthen and balance the Mercedes brand at the top end, just as we are going smaller with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class range of cars."
The image, which appears to be an official shot of the car, appeared on the web ahead of the car's premiere on 15 May.

Relatively elegant
In previous photos it looks relatively elegant and understated - in profile. As it should based on its length. But in this (Photoshopped) photo the front end looks wildly overstyled. Whereas the back end reminds me of a Bentley. And talking of Crewe products, the quilted leather and switchgear inside seem to have been 'borrowed' from them too. Virtual instruments courtesy of Jaguar. Merc are clearly taking no chances as they take their flagship upmarket.
I'm sure Mercedes said a
I'm sure Mercedes said a little while ago they were going for a simpler and more elegant style for the new S class. They must have had a last minute change of mind.....
The new S-Class
No doubt it will be very well engineered, but anyone else kind of underwhelmed by the look?
