The Volvo V90 Cross Country has been teased in a new picture three days after it was partially shown on video.
The image shows the car under wraps parked near a lake, hinting at the future model's rugged ability and genuine off-road capabilities.

The picture follows a teaser video (shown below) that revealed the lower front end of the new V90 model.
In the footage, Volvo’s signature Thor’s hammer T-shaped LED daytime running lights are visible, as well as the toughened styling of the lower bumper and a revised grille, which features a dot pattern, rather than the standard car’s vertical slats or the R-Design’s horizontal pattern.
The camera angle is low in the clip, which allows us to also see the car’s raised ground clearance, too. The narration of the video describes ‘all-new chassis technology’, but that, and the fact that it will be all-wheel drive, are the only details given.
The accompanying text with the teaser says that the V90 Cross Country will complete the 90 Series line-up, which also includes the Volvo S90 and Volvo XC90, indicating that no S90 Cross Country will be made. Previous announcements for the series, like the R-Design models, included both the S90 saloon and V90 estate.
This is no surprise, however, after Volvo axed the S60 Cross Country. The model sold just 34 examples across its lifetime.
First deliveries of the V90 Cross Country are expected to take place in early 2017, and the full car will be revealed later this month, although Volvo’s withdrawal from all but three major motor shows means it won’t be at the Paris motor show.
Prices are expected to closely match the £1800 premium the Cross Country commands over Momentum-spec V40 models, but the V90 Cross Country is likely to be all-wheel drive only.
V90 Cross Country prices are likely to start from £43,555; £2000 above the £41,555 starting price of the D5 Powerpulse AWD Momentum-spec V90.
