First official pictures of refreshed hybrid hatchback released ahead of its Guangzhou motor show debut on 21 November

The new Lexus CT200h has been previewed in official shots released prior to the car's forthcoming debut.

In order to bring the car's styling in line with more recent additions to the Lexus range, it's received the manufacturer's distinctive 'spindle' grille.

Other changes include new alloy wheel designs and minor revisions to the car's styling, which are hoped to give it a more “dynamic and sophisticated look”.

Equipment and technical updates have yet to be announced, but it's expected that it will remain mostly unchanged from the current model.

The existing CT200h features a 1.8-litre petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain that produces a total of 134bhp and is claimed to average 74.3mpg.

Further details will be revealed on 21 November, when the new Lexus CT200h is revealed in full in China at the Guangzhou motor show.

The baby Lexus

The baby Lexus certainly needed an uplift and it is a nice one. It could also do with a more powerful version. Just one powertrain leaves out many, many buyers. It seems like Toyota's hybrid programme kind of slowed down with the development of the 1.8L petrol hybrid powertrain. Perhaps due to lack of competition in past but things have changed now and other car makers are finally catching up. About time Toyota developed more hybrid powertrains - more efficient, cleaner and frugal. Did I say more refined?
