It’s common knowledge that making the switch to electric driving can significantly reduce your daily running costs. That’s because charging at home can be between 55% and 85% cheaper per mile* than filling up at a petrol station – and that’s before you take into consideration the record prices currently at the pumps.
While charging at home is already significantly cheaper than petrol, the energy tariff you choose can make a big difference to just how much you save. Most standard electricity tariffs aren’t designed specifically for EV charging, and drivers on a standard variable rate can be paying as much as four times more than they need to for their charging. So, choosing the right tariff is key to unlocking the biggest savings from going electric.
That’s where Pod Power comes in. As experts in EV charging, Pod has partnered with EDF to create an energy tariff exclusively for Pod customers. Designed specifically with EV home charging in mind, it offers ultra-cheap off-peak rates, potentially saving you hundreds of pounds a year on charging**. The tariff also works seamlessly with Pod Rewards, the rewards programme where Pod customers can earn up to £100 a year in cash for ‘smart’ charging at off-peak times.
The result of all this is clear. By combining an exclusive bespoke, low-cost EV tariff with real cash rewards, Pod is slashing the cost of your daily motoring and putting money back into your pocket.
Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Made by EV experts, for EV drivers

Pod knows a thing or two about helping people make the switch to an EV. Founded in 2009, it has spent more than 17 years helping drivers make the move to electric and now has more than 300,000 customers across the UK, making it one of the country’s leading home-charging providers. Indeed, Pod powers more than five million miles of electric driving every single day.
And it’s earned its fair share of plaudits along the way. What Car? named Pod as the Best Value Home Charger Provider in 2025 and 2026, while its seamless, end-to-end home charger installation service is Which? Trusted Trader endorsed – the first EV charging company to receive the endorsement – following an assessment of its customer service and installation process.
And now, through its partnership with EDF, Pod is bringing that charging expertise together with the energy know-how of one of Britain's biggest zero-carbon electricity generators. The result is an offering designed to make charging at home as simple and affordable as possible.
A tariff that could save you hundreds

Pod Power offers an off-peak rate of just 6.18p per kWh, giving eligible customers seven hours of cheap electricity every night between 11pm and 6am. That’s the cheapest off-peak rate available – and it’s considerably less than the 26.32p/kWh rate of a standard variable tariff aligned with the Ofgem price cap. So, what does that mean in practice?
Take an EV covering 8900 miles a year – the distance the average EV driver covers annually in the UK – and averaging 3.5 miles per kWh. That works out at an annual electricity consumption of 2543kWh. If all of that charging takes place during the off-peak period, you’d pay around £157 a year with Pod Power, compared with around £669 on a standard variable tariff.
