New Mazdas with integrated sat-nav; PSA in final talks for Dongfeng deal; revised engines for Mercedes' smaller range of cars

Mazda has introduced a range of special edition models, each fitted with a new 6-inch integrated infotainment system. The Sport Venture range, priced from £13,395, includes variants of the Mazda 2, 5 and MX-5. The models are on sale now.

Dongfeng has suspended trading of its shares, prompting rumours that a deal with PSA Peugeot Citroën is imminent. Negotiators from PSA are believed to be in final talks with the Chinese car giant, ahead of a deal which will see Dongfeng become a substantial shareholder in the firm.

Mercedes has announced a number of new, more efficient variants. The A220 CDI, B220 CDI and CLA 220 CDI models see displacement increased from 1.8- to 2.1-litres and in the case of the A-class, emissions drop to 102g/km. Mercedes says the 2.0-litre CLA 250 also now records CO2 emissions of 125g/km.

A recently spied Vauxhall Insignia is believed to be testing the firm's upcoming eight-speed automatic gearbox. The gearbox will replace the company's current six-speeder, and can handle torque outputs of up to 369lb ft. The Insignia could also get the firm's new 1.6-litre turbodiesel engine.

I believe the A220CDI, B220CDI and CLA220CDI were already 2.1-litres. The '180CDI and '200CDI variants use the 1.8-litre engine, although manual '180CDIs use the 1.5-litre Renault unit instead.
