Volvo’s Audi A4 Allroad rival is on sale now priced from £38,270, with deliveries in early 2019

UK pricing and specification details for the rugged Volvo V60 Cross Country has been revealed. The estate-cum-SUV is priced at £38,270 without options, and deliveries are due early next year.

The Cross Country follows on from the standard Volvo 60 estate, which was launched earlier this year. As is traditional for the sub-brand, it benefits from chunky lower body cladding and a 75mm ride height increase.

New front and rear skid plates complete the transformation. Standard equipment includes sat-nav, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, an electric tailgate and unique 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

The V60 Cross Country isn’t just a styling upgrade, however, as a new specially developed chassis and suspension package aims to boost the Audi A4 Allroad rival’s off-road capability. All-wheel drive is standard fitment, alongside Hill Descent Control and a new off-road driving mode for the drivetrain, which alters the responsiveness of the engine, gearbox and throttle pedal to assist in negotiating tough terrain.

In the UK, the V60 Cross Country’s sole engine choice at launch will be the 188bhp D4 Diesel engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It's capable of 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds, while managing 55.4mpg and emitting 135g/km of CO2. Mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are said to follow at a later date.

Like the regular V60, the Cross Country will benefit from standard City Safety with Autobrake tech, which can recognise pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. Run-off Road Mitigation and Oncoming Lane Mitigation will also be standard, while Cross-Traffic Alert is optional.

Who is going to drive this truly off road?

A Toyota off roader certainly. But for this much money the most it will see is a gravel driveway.

The majority of SUVS never see grass, the most they do is bounce up a kerb on a school run, this isnt an SUV, its an estate with added ground clearance.

Cross Soft Country 60. Watch those 'extras'

XC, not without the £615 sump guard.  As to £300 for Android, £80 for electric child locks and heated washer nozzles being part of £525 pack.

So much for a £38k safety conscious car with a 4 pot 2.0 ICE.

Do you have some kind of fetish about heated washer nozzles, its your go to comment on every signgle Volvo review, it was boring the second time, after about the 20th is getting annoying.. We get it, you dont like Volvos.. However adding those options you have highlighted still makes it cheaper than the equivalent A4 2.0D Allroad by about £2k, the V60 already has a higher standard spec and safety rating anyway, and it doesnt lie about the crap coming out of its exhaust..

Still never mind haters gotta hate

Nope you're wrong. If you think 38k for a 4 pot diesel estate is ok and then Volvo have the nerve to charge £850 for android and essential safety items like heated nozzles fine. But don't tell others it's ok.
Now get back to Tesla bashing or oggerling Volvo brochures. Sad hate fill troll that you are

Lol, I will have to ring NCap and ask them to remove a star for not having android and heated jets as standard. However you seem to be the one pouring over the Volvo brochures if you now the standard spec and the cost of extras - muppet.
