Muscular 2+2 V8 coupe can get from 0-60mph in less than four seconds

Cadillac has revealed the new CTS-V Coupe at the Detroit motor show.

The muscular coupe is powered by the same 556bhp, 551lb ft supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine as its saloon sibling, which is good for taking the car from 0-60mph in just 3.9secs. Power is sent from the engine to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual dual-disc clutch or an optional Hydra-Matic six-speed paddle-shift auto’.

Styling wise, the CTS-V Coupe does away with a conventional B-pillar and the windscreen is angled at 62.3 degrees to increase its aerodynamic profile. A nearly horizontal rear windscreen also features for the same purpose.

The track has been widened by almost 250mm over the saloon to boost handling control and the Coupe has also been lowered. The saloon’s innovative Magnetic Ride Control also features, which reads the road conditions to improve response time and precision.

Other features include lightweight Brembo brakes which have been specially developed for the car and 19-inch cast aluminium wheels equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 performance tyres that have also been specially developed for the Coupe.

Inside, the 2+2 Coupe gets 14-way adjustable Recaro performance seats and a new Saffron colour option unique to the car. Equipment includes a 40Gb navigation system and a satellite radio.

Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager, said, “The CTS-V Coupe marries our most potent and sophisticated technology with our most dramatic production design. This combination of visual and technical attributes is designed to create a very compelling choice for luxury sports car consumers.”

Production begins in the US in the summer, with the first deliveries set to start later this year. Pricing has yet to be revealed.

Re: Cadillac CTS-V Coupe revealed

Love this. Doesn't try to copy anything else.

On a day when Ford reveals the new ? Focus that has a back end like the Astra, that has a back end like the Megane , that has a back end like the Bravo - hooray for something just a little original.

Won't sell here of course, as we all like to conform to the norm !

I can't for the life of me work out why Cadillac doesnt stick some Vauxhall Diesels in there

I don’t think that would work, as others have pointed out Caddy already has an image problem as a luxury brand, imagine a Caddy with a Vauxhall engine, that setup would do more harm than good. If GM can make some head way with the petrol CTS-Vs maybe they will start producing the already developed 2.9-liter V6 turbo diesel they canned earlier this year.
