The two brands have partnered to share Koenigsegg’s cam-less engine tech; now they’re presenting a four-door EV supercar

The Qoros Model K-EV – a concept produced with Koenigsegg – has made its debut at the Shanghai motor show

Powering the Model K-EV is a quartet of electric motors that develop a combined 858bhp. This is sufficient, according to Qoros, to dispatch the lightweight coupe to 62mph in just 2.7sec and up to a limited top speed of 162mph.

A carbonfibre monocoque makes up the car’s architecture, with four doors and four seats. Recharging can be achieved either through inductive means or via an electricity socket with the range of the new concept’s sizeable 107kWh lithium ion battery put at over 311 miles.

The doors are a focal point on the car; the driver's side front door is an automatic opening gullwing door, while the passenger front door has a two-hinged mechanism allowing the door to swing open or alongside the car, while the rear passenger side door slides rearwards.

Qoros showed an electric concept, as well as a cam-less engined concept at the Guangzhou motor show late last year, although the 311-mile range of the Super EV dwarf’s that of the Q-Lectriq concept from the show.

Preparations are already being made to place the Model K-EV into production as a technological figurehead for a range of new electric powered Qoros models. Officials from the Chinese car maker have revealed plans exist for prototype versions to begin testing by the end of the year, with a limited run of production cars envisaged for launch in 2019.
