These are the latest pictures of the new Volkswagen Touran, which is scheduled to make its first public appearance in Geneva next month.
Currently winter testing in Europe, these pictures reveal the third-generation Touran will keep the same traditional MPV shape as the original, although it is expected to receive styling inspired by the latest Volkswagen Golf.
Underneath, this Touran is based on VW Group's flexible MQB architecture, which could shave as much as 100kg off the Touran's kerb weight - which currently sits at 1460kg for entry-level models.
These prototypes also appear to have longer wheelbases than the current Touran, which means the VW is likely to offer more interior space inside. Such a move would not only help to differentiate the Touran from its smaller Golf SV sibling, but could also make the new model more competitive against the likes of Ford's B-Max, the Vauxhall Meriva and Citroen's new Berlingo.
Set to be available in both five- and seven-seat forms, the Touran is likely to share much of its engine range with the Golf SV - including that model's 2.0-litre TDI and 1.4-litre TSI units.
