898bhp hypercar will be launched at tomorrow's Geneva motor show

This is the Koenigsegg Agera, the Swedish firm’s new hypercar.

Although Koenigsegg claims the car is all new, the Agera is essentially a heavily modified and upgraded version of the outgoing CCX, designed for track use. The length and height remain identical to the CCX, although the exterior and interior styling has been overhauled and the car is wider.

Koenigsegg has also changed the suspsnsion, fitted carbon ceramic brakes, reworked the anti-lock brakes and traction control and added larger air vents.

Underpinning the car is an aluminium honeycomb-reinforced carbonfibre chassis. Power comes from a 4.7-litre V8 engine, which produces 898bhp at 6850rpm and 811lb ft at 5100rpm.

The 1290kg Agera can get from 0-62mph in 3.1sec and from 0-124mph in 8.9sec, before hitting a top speed of almost 250mph.

New interior features include a carbonfibre centre console and a new lighting system that uses "invisible nanotubes" to increase the visibility of the buttons, dials and instruments.

Koenigsegg plans to build just 16-20 Ageras per year in Sweden and will start taking orders at the Geneva show. It costs from 780,000 euros (£750,000).

has anyone seen the Pagani without its dummy mule panels yet? when it comes to building cars like this - certain things have to be observed - like the laws of physics for example, which play a big part in homogenizing hypercar design.

Gone are the Testarossa fueled strap on fiberglass attachments that look wild/tacky but also make your car as aerodynamic as a brick compared to today's models.

Re: New Koenigsegg Agera revealed

All absolutely amazing figures of course, price to match.

But it's just more of the same, why no stunning new design?

Pagani are at it too, tweaking an exisiting design.

As amazing as both Koenigsegg and Pagani are they don't play the game like the 'classic' supercar makers used to do (or still do). A new show brought out something special that you'd never seen before and just wanted to look at time and again.

Come on, where's the outrageous design of the likes that Bertone & Pininfarina used to churn out given the merest hint of a show?

Take a good look people, Ferrari etc, this is what hypercars are all about, this makes the Enzo, the LFA,and the one-77 look a couple of years behind!
