Citroën has appointed Volkswagen Group France boss Xavier Chardon as its new CEO, replacing Thierry Koskas from 2 June.
Chardon has been at the German firm since 2012 and in his most recent role since 2021.
Before joining Volkswagen, he spent almost 20 years at Citroën, most recently as its French boss between 2009 and 2011.
Koskas took over as head of the French brand at the start of 2023. He oversaw a pivotal patch that included a rebranding, the launch of new EVs and a line-up shake-up that included the launch of the new C3 and C5 Aircross flagship.
Chardon will report to Stellantis COO Jean-Philippe Imparato, who is currently overseeing the multinational group as it searches for a new CEO.
Imparato said: “I would like to thank Thierry Koskas for leading Citroën brand over the last two years and for achieving its line-up renewal, most recently with the presentation of the new C5 Aircross.
“We are very pleased to welcome Xavier Chardon to the head of Citroën. His rich and diverse career, his expertise in the automotive sector and his knowledge of the brand will be valuable assets in leading Citroën towards new horizons and strengthening its unique position in the market."
