The 2017 Frankfurt motor show kicks on off on Tuesday September 12th.
One of the biggest car events of the year, it’s shaping up nicely with some very interesting new models being revealed for the first time. Here’s our choice of the best.

Audi A7
The new 2018 A8 has already been revealed. Next up is the turn of its smaller, coupé sibling - the A7. It is expected to debut at Frankfurt and inherit much of the A8's cutting-edge autonomous tech, and a crisp new look to boot.

Bentley Continental GT
Bentley's long-awaited next-generation Continental GT is expected to be officially revealed at the Frankfurt motor show, and will be the company’s most technologically advanced car yet.

BMW M5
This will be the first time we get to see the new M5 in the flesh, and it is BMW's first four-wheel-drive M5. Don’t worry purists: you can switch off drive to the front-wheels if you want to.

The replacement for the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo gets new badging in the shape of the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo. More conventionally styled than its predecessor, but it's still splitting opinions.

BMW i3S
BMW becomes officially the first major manufacturer to produce the hot electric hatch. Renault may have pipped it to the concept with the Zoe e-sport, but the i3S will definitely go on sale. It will show the facelifted i3 range too.

BMW X7 concept
Pictures of this car have already leaked out. BMW’s new rival to the Range Rover arrives in concept form; we expect the production version to look pretty similar and be on the roads by the end of 2018.

Borgward sports car concept
The old German brand of Borgward has been revived, now under Chinese ownership. We expect a new sports car concept, which could eventually make production as a halo model, like MG's E-Motion concept.

Will Chinese car-making come of age with this arrival of a new China-built yet European brand? We expect a hybrid or electric SUV, to be revealed in pre-production form.

Citroën C3 Aircross
Citroën's answer to the Nissan Juke will make its first public outing at the Frankfurt motor show. The quirky French small SUV arrives in European markets late in 2017.

Renault-Nissan’s European discount brand Dacia will unveil its replacement for the Duster small SUV.

Ferrari Portofino
The new Ferrari Portofino is the firm’s new entry-level model, replacing the California T. The folding hard-top convertible is powered by a 3.9-litre 592bhp V8 engine that the Italian firm says can accelerate it from 0-62mph in 3.5sec.

Honda CR-V hybrid
The mainstream Honda hybrid returns. Honda's first hybrid in its electrification strategy will probably be a CR-V, with other models following suit after that.

Hyundai i30N
Hyundai's first hot hatch makes its bow at Frankfurt. The car has up to 271bhp on tap, pumped-up looks and - we hope - some crisp handling.

Yet another SUV from Hyundai will be at Frankfurt in the shape of the compact Kona - its answer to the Nissan Juke.

Formally unveiled recently at an event in London, the new compact SUV from Jaguar makes its motor show debut. It should be available to buy in most markets later in 2017.

Kia Proceed shooting brake concept
Continuing its upward trajectory into posher segments, Kia is following Mercedes' lead by creating a shooting brake. It's likely to replace the slower-selling Pro'Ceed three-door in the Ceed range, although Kia's tight-lipped on the details. It looks great and let's hope we’ll be able to buy it one day.

Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar
Perhaps the headline car of the Frankfurt motor show will be Mercedes-AMG's as-yet-unnamed hypercar, codenamed Project One. Armed with an Formula 1-derived engine, it's set to fight the new Aston Martin Valkyrie and usher in a new generation of hypercars when it arrives late next year.

Mercedes will show a new hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered SUV concept at Frankfurt, Apart from hydrogen-power, it's also a hybrid, with another electric engine providing additional go, with a claimed a range of 500km (311 miles).
