Currently reading: Westfield launches new lightweight

Westfield landed its latest blow in the rapidly-developing lightweight sports car war at Autosport International. That came in the form of the new Sport 2000 S – a £250bhp, £33,000, front-engined two-seater which features the first full overhaul of Westfield’s tried-and-tested chassis for 15 years.

The new car runs an aluminium Ford Duratec inline four-cylinder powerplant which is now bolted directly to the car’s structure rather than suspended inside it on pedestal rubber mountings as before. It is mated with a competition six-speed sequential gearbox, and both electronic traction and launch control are included on its option list.

The Sport 2000 S costs £32,950 fully assembled, or £29,950 in kit form.
