The new Roding Roadster, a German-built mid-engined two-seater that is due to go into production next year, has been spied testing.
Powered by a six-cylinder turbocharged engine and weighing just 950kg, the Roding Roadster has a reported 300bhp and 295lb ft on tap.

The Roding’s main chassis cell is manufactured of carbonfibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), while the front and rear subframes are aluminium-CFRP hybrid structures. The bodyshell is made of fibreglass sandwich panels.
Roding hasn’t revealed the origins of its transversely installed powerplant, beyond saying it has been sources from “a car manufacturer with reputation”.
The car has a six-speed manual transmission, limited slip differential and fully adjustable independent double wishbone suspension.
The idea of the Roding was first floated in 2007, and the first concept study appeared at the Frankfurt motor show two years later.
A special-edition version called the Roding Roadster 23, is expected to be shown off next spring.
