The entry-level model in the new Ford Galaxy range will undercut its predecessor by £70. The range goes on UK sale in June, starting at £19,495 for the LX with either a 143bhp 2.0-litre petrol or 98bhp 1.8-litre diesel engine.
That diesel is the 98bhp version; for swifter progress you’ll need to spend £20,295 to get the 123bhp diesel, adding an extra £200 if you want the six-speed gearbox. £20,995 sees you in the 141bhp diesel with six-speed ‘box.
Zetec trim starts at £21,495 and brings dual temperature control, electric seats, electric rear windows and alloy wheels. Those in an LX are likely to not be too badly off: the details are not finalized, but the expectation is that the specification will not be changed by much from the current Galaxy.
That would mean dual front, side and curtain airbags, ABS, air conditioning and front fog lights being fitted to the LX.
Peugeot’s 807 range starts at £19,295; the Renault Espace range begins at £19,700.
