Projet Spécial 1 will sit outside the remit of Alpine's existing sporting models; could preview supercar or GT

Alpine will reveal the new Projet Spécial 1 – or PS1 – at next week’s Paris motor show.

It said the PS1 codename reflects that the concept sits outside its “everyday” cars – the A290 and A390 – as well as its flagship, the A110.

A teaser image showcases its narrow headlight, illuminated in the colours of the French flag.

This is distinct from the next-generation A110, whose design has been hinted at in the form of a sculpture that will also be displayed in Paris.

It's possible that the PS1 will hint at the look of Alpine's forthcoming rival for the Ferrari SF90, which is due in 2028 with a turbo V6 hybrid powertrain that will combine for an output north of 1000bhp.

Indeed, the teaser picture released by Alpine appears to show the shadowed silhouette of a large rear spoiler.

Equally it could hint at the long-mooted successor to the A310, a four-seat GT that was built between 1971 and 1984.

The image shows the narrow headlight is positioned next to a straight-edged wing, a design cue that was present on the lightweight A310.

As previously reported by Autocar, a new A310 is due to join the Alpine range in two years’ time as a 2+2 rival to the Porsche 911.
