Audi reveals the updated version of its strong-selling drop-top A4

These first official pictures reveal the face of the revised Audi A4 Cabriolet, expected to arrive in the UK in March 2006. The drop-top receives the more distinctive Audi family face to match its saloon sibling, while under the skin the four-engine range includes three units that are appearing in the cabrio for the first time.

Buyers will be offered the choice of 1.8-litre turbo, plus the new 2.0-litre FSI turbo from the Golf GTi and a 3.2-litre FSI V6 petrol, or a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel. Audi claims the punchiest of these, the 3.2 petrol, will propel the A4 Cabriolet from 0-60mph in 6.8sec, and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. All engines will be mated to either five- or six-speed manual gearboxes, with a six-speed tiptronic available for quattro models.

In addition to the single-frame front grille, the restyle adds redesigned front and rear light clusters and a new rear diffuser to give a sportier look. An optional acoustic hood is also now offered, offering a reduction of noise levels within the cabin. Inside, single cloth and leather trims are available, as well as combination cloth/leather and leather/Alcantara options. Aluminium inserts and inlays are standard, with optional walnut or birch timber veneers.
