Ferrari's Enzo successor photographed undergoing test runs at Maranello and the Nurburgring

A development version of the LaFerrari has been spotted performance testing at the Nurburgring.

Although the full production model of the car has already been revealed, Ferrari is reportedly gauging its performance on the famous German circuit, which has already seen the likes of McLaren's P1 and Porsche's 918 lay down times.

The replacement for the Enzo supercar, which was revealed in full at the Geneva motor show, is claimed to embody Ferrari's technical knowledge, design capabilities and brand virtues.

Originally codenamed F150, the new supercar uses a 6.3-litre V12 and a pair of electric motors to deliver a combined 950bhp and 715lb ft.

With a dry weight of 1255kg, the LaFerrari is claimed to be capable of 0-62mph in less than three seconds; more impressively, 0-186mph is stated to take just 15.5sec.

The LaFerrari's top speed is currently unknown, however, with Ferrari refusing to quote a figure because "it simply doesn't matter".

Ferrari's new model is set to rival cars like the Porsche 918 and McLaren P1.

A prototype has also previously been spotted undergoing testing near Ferrari's Maranello headquarters.

There certainly seems to be a trend among the hypercar fraternity to launch a car before it's completely signed-off for sale. The 918, P1, Huayra and the LaFerrari. Only Lambo seems to show a car that's ready to rock and roll.
