Currently reading: Honda diesel is all class

Honda has caused a stir with its first in-house diesel engine, announcing figures for its 2.2 i-CDTI Accord that puts it straight to the top of the class.

Honda claims the 52.3mpg average thirst outranks every rival apart from the Renault Laguna, while the 9.4sec 0-60mph time is second only to BMW's 320d in four-cylinder diesels. With 143g/km emissions and Euro4 compliance, the Accord is in the lowest tax band.
