Currently reading: Decision time for ME412

Chrysler’s 850bhp ME-Four-Twelve might be down, but it’s not out yet. Many wrote it off after the departure of its champion, former Chrysler chief operating officer Wolfgang Bernard; it has recently been spotted in development at the Laguna Seca raceway in California however, and has a new hero in DaimlerChrysler chairman Juergen Schrempp.

The AMG V12-powered, quad turbocharged supercar will have to be a money-spinner for its maker though. Chrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche has warned that he’s not prepared to take a loss on the project, which would be largely outsourced to specialists like Roush and Ricardo. A final decision is expected before the end of this year.
