Le Mans winners, historic racers and modern competition machines were all in attendance at the fifth Rennsport Reunion meeting at Laguna Seca in the United States

The fifth Porsche Rennsport Reunion took place at Laguna Seca over the weekend, with some 50,000 spectators heading to the event.

The event played host to 11 Le Mans winners and several historic and modern day racing cars, and hosted the US debut of the revised 911 sports car.

The Le Mans winners in attendance ranged in age from 25 to 87, with the youngest, Earl Bamber, having won at Le Mans this year. The other winners attending were Richard Attwood (who won in 1970), Jacky Ickx (winner 1976, ’77, ’81 and ’82), Gijs van Lennep (1976), Hurley Haywood (1977, ’83 and ’94), Jürgen Barth (1977), Derek Bell (1981, ’82, ’86 and ’87), Vern Schuppan (1983), Hans-Joachim Stuck (1986 and ’87) as well as Nick Tandy, who won alongside Bamber this year.

Many of the cars took centre stage on the Laguna Seca circuit, with Porsche’s LMP1 racers Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley and Neel Jani behind the wheel of the 919 Hybrid.

Former Le Mans winner Hans-Joachim Stuck said of the event: “The cars you see here are just amazing. They’re all in incredible condition. And the best thing is that I’ve contested races in many of them.”

The first Rennsport Reunion took place in 2001, with subsequent events in 2004, 2007 and 2011. It started off at Lime Rock in Connecticut before moving to Laguna Seca in 2011.
