Production of the coach-built Bentley Continental Flying Star will be increased

Touring Superleggera plans to increase production of its Bentley Continental Flying Star after investing in extra tooling, technology and members of its workforce.

The investment means that five cars can now be built in parallel with a six-month delivery term still in place.

Loosely based on the Continental GTC chassis and introduced at the Geneva motor show last year, all Flying Stars will be manufactured to personal specifications and will feature power outputs ranging from 552bhp to 621bhp, courtesy of Bentley’s 6.0-litre W12 engine.

The concept of the luxury tourer combines a two-door, high-performance sports car with a wide, accessible luggage compartment, which now opens faster and wider, using directly driven gears.

According to Touring, 4000 hours of handwork go into each model to create something that "combines elegance with sportiness" and is "timeless and perfectly in line with the Touring heritage".

The company has recently completed the production of its third car and the model will make its first appearance at the Qatar motor show from 25 to 29 January. Only 19 examples are currently planned for production.
