Brand’s first two-motor hybrid vehicle will arrive next year

Honda expects two-thirds its European sales to be for electrified models by 2025.

Speaking at the Geneva motor show, the company’s European boss Katsushi Inoue said an ‘Electric Vision’ was being drawn up to kick-start a product offensive.

“We will leverage Honda’s global R&D resources to accelerate the introduction of a full portfolio of advanced, electrified powertrains,” he said.

The first models to arrive in this plan will be hybrids, with one due in 2018 that’ll use a two-motor setup. Following that, plug-in hybrid, battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will also be launched.

Honda’s announcement came alongside demonstration of its Clarity Fuel Cell model. The zero-emission Clarity is capable of covering 434 miles to one fill.

The brand recently announced a partnership with General Motors to develop hydrogen fuel cell technology. Each brand is investing $85 million into the partnership.
