Conceptual version of the new Honda Civic hatchback is given an early debut thanks to leaked images

The next-generation Honda Civic concept is believed to have been revealed in these low-res pictures, which have leaked out on the eve of next week's Geneva motor show.

The pictures were revealed by carscoops.com, and show a car with familiar Honda Civic styling cues but with much more aggressive body styling. As the Geneva show car is likely to be a concept, it is likely that the more exaggerated features will be toned down for production.

Update: The tenth generation Honda Civic takes it bow at the 2016 Geneva Motorshow

The all-new Civic is expected to go on sale in 2017, and draw styling inspiration from the Honda Civic Coupe concept that was shown at last year's New York motor show.

The new Civic will sit on an all-new platform developed by Honda. Spy pictures of it testing have already revealed some details, including an all-new dashboard design and high-tech features including heated rear seats and blind-spot protection cameras, suggesting top-end models will feature cutting edge kit.

In time, the Civic family will extend to include a five-door hatch, five-door estate, four-door saloon and the next-generation Honda Civic Type R.

Engines are expected to include new-generation 1.0-litre turbo and 1.5-litre petrol engines, while a new hybrid system is also expected to be launched with the car.
